How to Write Attractive Hotel Content for Independence Day

by | June 24, 2019

Independence Day is a great way for hoteliers to promote their hotel as a wonderful place for families to get together and celebrate. Whether you are hosting an event or not, we hope you take note of these top tips that will help you write more attractive content.

Keep it Brief

In order to be successful in writing social media content, it must be easy to read. It’s possible to achieve this so long as your content is clear and concise. Because most social media consumers are scrolling through feeds, your content has to be straight to the point. Therefore, if you have a Fourth of July pool party, firework celebration, or holiday-related event, it will stand out if you write less.

As a rule of thumb, we suggest keeping social media posts a minimum of 1 – 3 sentences. The last thing you want to do is overwhelm a reader with fluffy content, or a post with unnecessary words. Readers are viewing loads of content when swiping through their feeds, so keep it brief.

Be Specific

Specificity is very important when creating content. It’s important to know your goal for the post and communicate that message. If you’re writing content about a discount, be sure to state the duration of the deal. For special event posts, include the 5 W’s: who, what, where, when and why.

Also, it’s important to have the expiration date of the promoted content in the post. You wouldn’t want a customer finding out that the July deal they found does not apply because it could’ve been from the year prior. This could lead to bad reviews and unsatisfied customers, so make sure to cover all points.

Example Posts:

  • Celebrate Independence Day with us at our pool, Thursday from 12-3 p.m.!
  • Happy Fourth of July! We hope to see you at our Fireworks celebration, 6 p.m., tomorrow.
  • Take advantage of our 15% off Independence Day deal July 3-7, 2019 when you book by June 1st!

Provide Visuals

Some events call for more specific details that might exceed the 1-3 sentence rule. If so, feel free to include extra details of the event or deal in the image. Utilizing the image to get your holiday message across is key to creating attractive content. Just like written content, your image content should be brief and specific.

In fact, including too much text can impact your post’s ability to get promoted on Facebook. It limits the use of text to avoid content from looking like spam. Make sure your images have the right amount of text by uploading the image to Facebook’s Text Overlay Tool.

Whether your post has an image or not, it’s important to excite the traveler. Whichever way you choose, paint what their experience will be like within the visual.
