[Updated March 1, 2021] When you own a hotel, it’s important to use every tool you can to help the success of your property. Joining a hospitality association has many benefits, including providing ongoing development and training, updating you on news and alerts, and lobbying on your behalf. Here are some of the top hospitality associations to join to support your hotel.

AAHOA: Asian American Hotel Owners Association

AAHOA is the largest hospitality organization in the world, and almost half of U.S. hotels are owned by AAHOA members. AAHOA was first founded in 1989, when different groups fighting discrimination against Asian American hotel owners banded together to form oneåÊassociation. Today, AAHOA continues to lobby for its members’ interests while also providing educational resources and tools for success.

Travel Media Group is a proud founding member of AAHOA. Meet us at their annual conference or at a number of regional events throughout the year.

AH&LA: American Hotel & Lodging Association

The AH&LA is driven by the idea that hoteliers are indispensable resources in the community. Hotels create jobs, spur economic growth, and are a vital piece of the tourism industry. Membership in the AH&LA provides a voice to advocate for its 24,000+ members.

In addition to pushing for legislative changes that will support hoteliers, the AH&LA provides its members with industryåÊnews, insider data, educational materials, and networking opportunities.

HFTP: Hospitality Financial Technology Professionals

If you work in IT or finance for hotels, then HFTP is a great organization to join for your ongoing educational needs. Through HTFP, you can take the exams and receive theåÊCertified Hospitality Accountant Executive (CHAE) and the Certified Hospitality Technology Professional (CHTP) designations.

HFTP also offers some of the best networking opportunities for digital-focused hoteliers. At their HITEC Conference, you’ll find the newest technologies to drive success for your hotel.

BLLA: Boutique & Lifestyle Lodging Association

Boutique and independent hoteliers face a unique set of challenges compared to their branded peers. The BLLA finds success by pooling the resources of many small hoteliers to make a big difference. Membership in the BLLA includes business development materials, educational materials, boutique-specific marketing tools, and more to help boutique hotels to compete with larger chains.
